The story related in this book is an entanglement of two tales of romance. One is Elinor’s life, the younger sister of her beautiful sister. Not as sophisticated, but none the less beautiful. That story relates her love life, and what happens when her sister’s life is changed forever.

The other is a modern story of romance – Kate’s crush on the most eligible boy in the school. When his circumstances change too she begins to wonder whether a weekend away with him is quite what she expected and whether in fact she would have been better off not going at all.

It is a tale of a castle, a summer’s weekend on a beach and how nothing is really what you expect.

It has elements of Rebecca (Du Maurier), and is full of atmosphere – and is dark and rather twisted. Not for the feint hearted…
