This is another superb book from Annabel Pitcher. Her other titles My sister Lives on the Mantelpiece and Ketchup Clouds, both of which are really for teenage readers, were all encompassing. This, I think, is more for the 9 – 12 age group, though it does deal with infidelity, and also with the children conceived using sperm donors. It is very much about relationships and families and what makes a family and or parent. It also deals brilliantly with emotions and how a little bit of knowledge can be much worse than no knowledge at all.

Everyone should have a goldfish in their lives…

I had hoped that they hadn’t decided on a cover, but it seems they decided to go with that they had used on the proof. I rather liked the idea of a goldfish torch…
